Ted Walker

British nature poet from mid 20th century, on a par with Ted Hughes. I only just discovered him - where have I been all my life ??? Whatever, I know him now. Wonderful wordsmith, sooooo subtle, so able. Poignant, bitter-sweet, evocative ... oh damn it! go read him for yourself!

Actually, it's worth listening to the programme I heard him on through BBCi at http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/radio4 You should be able to find it and do "listen-again". Whoever they had reading was really good!

Try this ...

Walker of the Downs
Martin Sorrell walks the Sussex Downs which, in the 1960s, provided nature poet Ted Walker with inspiration for some of his best work.
