Narnia

I just watched Prince Caspian.

2-3 days ago they had The Lion, the Withc and the Wardrobe on TV so we watched it again, although we have the dvd then today we decided to watch Prince Caspian as we'd got it from Lovefilm. Ummm! I'm really glad I didn't pay cinema money for it! If you've read the book and know it well you'll be most confused and rather bored for quite long stretches. LWW was much closer to the bookdespite having a blonde Witch.

I dunno. PC pased the time and I'm glad to have seen it. The beginning was quite good except for a strange fight which Peter was having. I'm quite unconvinced about Telmarines with Spanish-style accents. and why were we in London and the Strand tube station instead of the country station where it is in the book? And the love-interest bollocks with Susan just does not fit with when/where the story is set ... sigh!

Why is it some half-arsed script-writer-cum-director-type thinks they can improve on genius? Lewis was a genius. He had the idea of the stories and the children perfectly in his head, the books work, so why does some ninny have to change it? Sigh again.

I shall hire the dvd of they make the Dawn Treader. I'll probably continue through The Silver Chair. Assumig they do make them.

LWW had Peter riding a white unicorn - presumably hitting forward to Jewel in the Last Battle ??? - except that one NEVER rode a unicorn! In fact, one never rode a talkng horse either, despite Philip in LWW as Edmund's horse. It seems really naff that this era of sound-bite-education seems to have the idea it can improve on the great writers of the past when it probably can't cope with words over 3 syllables. I would have love Prince Casapian done properly and was much looking f/wd to it but it seems I'm out of luck.
